Radnor Soccer League

Radnor Soccer League (RSL) is our recreation division, where teams play other teams within RSL. It’s designed to introduce soccer to our youngest players and provide a place where older players can learn more about the sport, improve their skills, and enjoy playing the game.

The RSL is a good choice for your child if they:

  • Are in grades K-12.
  • Are new to the sport of soccer or team sports in general.
  • Are looking to have fun and fall in love with the sport
  • Aren’t ready for or don’t want to commit to a travel schedule.

Note: Our RSL program is open to non-residents of Radnor Township, too. Your friends and family across the southeast PA region are welcome to join us!

Check out our Futures Program for a transitional program between our intramural and travel leagues.

RSL Program Highlights

  • Follows the US Youth Soccer mandate for small-sided games.
  • We offer 2 programs, a full season in the fall and a skill clinic program in the spring.
  • Focused on participation, team building, and sportsmanship.
  • Helps improve skills while having fun in a competitive environment.
  • Older age groups feature more structured practices with age-appropriate drills, training and strategy.
  • Games in the older age groups begin to track scores and involve referees.

Dedicated team of volunteers

The RSL program coaches and leaders are volunteers from the community. The RSL Coaching Director and our professional coaching staff work with the volunteers to give them detailed training materials that help build player skills and confidence. Interested in being a volunteer coach? Come join the fun!

We understand that there are a lot of activities that the children participate in. Unfortunately, it is impossible to accommodate everyone’s schedules. We're trying to combat this issue by getting the schedule out far in advance this year.

These game and practice days and times are not flexible and will not be changed unless enrollment in certain age groups coupled with field availability forces a change. It is our hope that knowing about this commitment this far in advance will help families to manage conflicts.

Radnor Soccer League FAQs

Does RSL use volunteers?

Yes, we need volunteers! Without our amazing volunteers, the league does not work. Please consider coaching your child's team.

I'm interested in helping out, but I have never coached or played soccer before.

This year we have added an amazing new resource in Alan Greaves, who's planning to help our volunteer coaches to design practice sessions, game day coaching, and more.

Does RSL have an equal playing time policy?

Coaches are instructed to provide players with equal playing time. Because this is a recreational soccer league, our goal is to provide a fun, team environment in which to learn the game of soccer.

What is the end of season celebration?

Each year on the last day of the season, we have our end-of-season celebration. This will mark the last day of games for the season.

Each team in ages Pre K – 4th grade will have soft pretzels and trophies provided on the final date of the season.

What equipment do I need to buy for recreation soccer?

Each player is required to bring:

  • Shin guards. For the safety of each player, shin guards must be worn to all practices and games, and they must be completely covered by socks at all times.
  • Soccer cleats are recommended, but you can wear sneakers if you don't have cleats.
  • A soccer ball. Size 3 soccer balls are recommended for children age 7 and younger. Size 4 soccer balls are recommended for children 8-11 years old. Size 5 soccer balls are recommended for players 12 and over. Be sure to label your child’s ball with a sharpie in a number of places to help avoid losing it!

For our volunteer coaches, you'll receive equipment such as cones, pinnie tops, and more.

What should my child wear for a uniform?

Each registration comes with a Nike Jersey as well as a pair of socks. Most children wear black shorts, but this is not a requirement. Children should be dressed appropriately for the weather conditions as well. We will hold games in the rain and cold within reason.

What if my childs jersey does not fit?

We're using your registration info to order sizing. Once uniforms arrive we may have a limited amount of additional RSL uniforms available. If that is the case, we can work with you to find a better fit while supplies last.

Who will be my child’s coach?

One of our incredible volunteers!

How can I make sure my child is on a team with friends from school?

In an eƯort to have more balanced rosters this year, we will no longer be placing teams by schools.

Instead, each player may request to play with one friend, but the request will only be honored if the friend reciprocates this request. We cannot guarantee but will do everything possible to make sure that each player on a team has at least one other player from their school on the roster.

If your child does not request a specific friend to play with we will do our best to make sure there are other people from your child’s school on their team.

When will I know when my child has been placed on a team?

Teams will be announced around the same time as the schedule. You will be able to view all of the information (roster, schedule, coaches info … etc) on your team's TeamSnap page.

Keep an eye on the email you used at registration. That address will receive a TeamSnap invite when the page is set up and ready to go (sometime in the middle of August).

When does the oƯicial schedule for my child’s team come out?

The oƯicial schedule will be loaded onto your child’s TeamSnap page roughly 2 weeks before the start of the season.

What should I do if I have any other questions?

If you have any RSL related questions, please feel free to reach out to us at Radnorrsl@gmail.com.

My child decided not to play, are registration fee’s refundable?

Unfortunately, fee’s are not refundable after August 1.
