Alan’s been coaching and directing soccer for over 30 years in Southeastern PA. His head coaching career began as the Varsity Soccer Coach at Radnor High School from 1999-2002, winning the school’s first district titles in 2000 and 2002, and reaching the PIAA state playoffs in 3 of his 4 seasons in charge. From 2003-2004 he assumed the role of Assistant Coach at Villanova University, where after 9 consecutive losing seasons, the team had its first consecutive winning seasons, including bids to the Big East playoffs.
While coaching for FC DELCO between 1999-2010, his teams won 3 USYSA National Championships (2001, 2002, and 2003) and 5 Regional Championships (2001, 2002, 2003, 2006, and 2009). In 2007 Alan was named Director of FC DELCO and transitioned them into the US Soccer Academy/MLS Next league.
Alan came out of soccer retirement in 2018 to run Radnor Soccer Club with his long-time colleague and friend, Kirk Johnson, following in his father’s footsteps who was a former President of Radnor Soccer Club in the mid to late 1980’s.
Alan played high school soccer for Radnor High School and his college soccer at Lehigh and Villanova University. He has taught social studies at Radnor High School since 2000.
