Travel Soccer Overview

Travel soccer is a competitive soccer experience that promotes long-term development of players with an emphasis on fundamental soccer skills. The travel program is intended for soccer players all ages from U8 to U18. We also offer an introduction to travel soccer program for U7 kids.

Given the competitive nature of the program, children must try out and be selected for a position on a travel team. Roster spots will be limited, and some children who tryout may not be offered a position on a travel team.

During the fall season all travel teams typically practice two evenings per week, and play games on the weekends, with about half the games played at home and about half the games played away. Many travel teams will play in two or more tournaments, often over a late August weekend and usually over Columbus Day weekend. Our most competitive travel teams (Premiere and Samba) continue to practice and compete to varying degrees through the winter. During the spring they will practice regularly and participate in the State Cup and maybe a league as well.

While we as a club have a philosophy, that multiple sports benefits the development of kids athletic skills, it is anticipated that kids on our Premiere and Samba teams participate in most (of not all) team activities during the fall and weigh competitive spring soccer games higher than other sports activities.

We, as a club, are very proud of the coaching staff we have assembled and feel confident that we can match any other local club when it comes to quality of the coaching staff. It is our ambition to attract and keep high caliber soccer coaches who truly find joy in coaching “o jogo bonito.” Most coaches have a proven track record of developing kids’ individual skills and equally important making kids understand the importance of team performance and spirit.
