Brian Vernau, M.D., a specialist in Pediatric and Adolescent Sports Medicine from CHOP, recently presented to and took questions from our travel soccer coaching staff on an issue of great importance to all of us: the prevention, identification and treatment of head injuries in soccer.

 

Dr. Vernau updated the group on the latest regarding the short and long-term effects of traumatic brain injuries, prevention, signs and symptoms and proper responses from coaches.  Questions and topics of discussion included protocols, preventing reoccurrence, heading and differing scenarios for kids of different ages.
